Assignment 3

The third assignment is a photographic and written analysis of an event at New World Symphony SoundScape. The analysis should comprise a 500-word text and six captioned photographs or drawings.

The assignment is due Sunday, 2.12.2012 @5pm.

The written analysis should discuss how the built environment - architecture, landscape, furnishings, sidewalks and streets - encourages and accommodates public use, particularly in the case of the event you observe at SoundScape. How does the space prompt behavior, and how do people use the park in unexpected ways? How does the park comprise a critique of the New World Symphony Building - in both affirmative and negative ways - and of the surrounding city?

The written analysis should be written in the third person. The captions for the photos should indicate what is important about each image, and thus the images should complement the written analysis, not just serve as forms of documentation.
