SoundScape analysis, Amanda Velazquez

Different levels in the park with children playing around

The New World Center and park located just one block from Lincoln Road in Miami Beach promotes the use of public spaces from people of all ages. The park has different levels that although the elevations are very subtle, it invites people to sit and watch the Wallcast events.

Also, the variation in levels creates benches that people use in the events, and they encourage children to play around them during the wallcast concerts. The park support family activities, for the whole family can go to the park, and while the parents talk and listen to the concert, their children play in the park. The family doesn’t longer have to spend a lot of money in order to enjoy good music.

Landscape surrounds the park
Columns on the side of the park
The landscape creates the park boundaries. There are two canopies that frame the park on the east side of the park. They become the main entrance on that side and invite people coming from Washington Ave to enter the park and use it. During the day, the landscape does not provide shade, so it is not as inviting as in the night. However, it represents Miami tropical environment.
Obstruction of the wall on the left side of the park

Although the landscape in the park gives a sense of privacy, there are some palm trees located in erroneous area. For example, if a person decides to sit in the left side of the wall there are palms that will block the view. The sound columns in front of the wall clearly delineate the main seating area where not obstruction from plants will occur. The openness of that green area encourages people to bring a chair or a blanket to watch the concert.

Sidewalks around the park
The different sidewalk around the park invites people to circulate the park even if they are not staying to watch any of the events. It also facilitates the entrance to the park from different points on the streets allowing a better circulation. The sidewalk also can be use as seating during the events, and because some of them are in different levels it provides good views to the wall. Moreover, the building also invites people to cross the park because it becomes like a lantern during night, so people become curious of the activities inside. The New World Center is a well design space that encourages entertainment and leisure activities to all people in Miami

This is a good description of the park, though it seems to describe only the north half of the site. The analysis could be much stronger - for example, you could delve into the subtle changes of elevation between paths and seating in order to discuss how the seating is composed across the horizontal expanse of the park. It would be great to expand your point about the trellis/arbor structures representing the tropics - what do you mean by this, and how do the park's elements effect this representation?

Please work on your grammar. this is unacceptable as it stands. The description needs to be followed by an analysis of exactly how the design makes a place for the soundscape events. Drawings should show the scale and layout, with details showing how specific features accommodate people.
